The conversation has been happening in whispers. O The conversation has been happening in whispers.
On 20 May, it becomes a mandate.

Heal SA is bringing together 20 experts — clinicians, activists, researchers, and young people with lived experience — for a ministerial dialogue on youth mental health in Johannesburg.

20 experts. 1 round-table. 1 city.

This isn't a conference. It isn't a panel. It's a working dialogue — where real insights get surfaced, real tensions get named, and real change starts to take shape.

Part of the State of the Youth Address (SOYA 2026) dialogue series — a national, youth-led platform reimagining what leadership looks like when young people lead.

The insights from this room travel to Cape Town on 15 June. This is where the national mandate begins.

This Wednesday at the Imbokodo Healing Circle, we This Wednesday at the Imbokodo Healing Circle, we talk about something mothers rarely give themselves permission to talk about:

Themselves.

The session is called The Oxygen Mask — because you have been so busy watching your child drown that you forgot to breathe.

Guest Speaker Ms Karabo Rangwetsi, author of Invisible Scars: Visible Strength, will walk us through compassion fatigue, burnout, and what it actually looks like to take care of yourself while caring for someone in addiction.

You cannot pour from an empty cup.

1 in 4 South African learners is depressed, hopele 1 in 4 South African learners is depressed, hopeless, or persistently sad.

We know the stats.
We've seen the data.
We've counselled 16,000+ young people who carry this.

But we haven't made it a mandate, yet.

📍 That changes on 20 May.

Heal SA is hosting a reimagined ministerial dialogue on youth mental health in Johannesburg — part of the State of the Youth Address (SOYA 2026) dialogue series. A room of 20 experts — clinicians, activists, and young people with lived experience — sitting down to surface what's broken and what change actually looks like.

This isn't another awareness post.
This is the beginning of a mandate.

We know this is two weeks in. But some things are We know this is two weeks in.

But some things are worth introducing properly — because there are still four sessions left, and there might be a mama reading this who needs to know this exists.

The Imbokodo Healing Circle is a free, 6-week support group for mothers with children struggling with substance abuse.

Not a lecture. Not a clinic. A circle. Where you can exhale, learn, and be with women who truly get it.

Some pain doesn't start with you. But the healing Some pain doesn't start with you. But the healing can.

Heal SA in collaboration with Unity Centre of Love & Light invites you to Healing the Mother Wound, a powerful workshop for women ready to confront the inherited pains, silent expectations, and emotional patterns passed through maternal lineages.

Facilitated by Rev. Adv. Thandi Nhlengetwa, this session integrates spiritual wisdom with practical emotional advocacy, giving you real tools to:

- Understand where the wound began
- Move from blame to conscious boundary-setting
- Nurture your inner child with the love she always deserved

This is for you whether you're a mother, a daughter, or still untangling what you inherited.
